Essay on Uptian Sinclair And Socialism - 2267 Words

Upton Sinclair and Socialism nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;Socialism has always been hard for me to understand. I never really grasped the concept of it until I read the book The Jungle and began to research for this paper. Before I begin I would like to go through a condensed version of the history of Socialism. It was founded in 1901 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Two groups came together to form the Socialists, the Social Democratic Party and the â€Å"Kangaroo† wing of the older Socialist Labor Party. These parties contained mostly immigrant workers from big cities (Jurgis from The Jungle was one such fictional worker). The new party expanded and included every type of extremist. They stood on the motto of â€Å"reform vs. revolution† and focused†¦show more content†¦In 1960 the book The Other America was published by Michael Harrington. This book took great favor within the Socialist Party. The left wing Socialists were beginning to die out and in 1968 the right wing Socialists held the majority of the members. Over the next years many splits, divisions and merging occurred under the control of the right wing Socialists and in 1982 the party was renamed the Democratic Socialists of America. The only state to have a Socialist ballot is the Socialist Party of Oregon, which formed in 1994. This is how it remains today. nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; In the beginning I read Upton Sinclair’s novel The Jungle in order to gain entrance into the Advanced Placement English class. The things I learned about Socialism, the meat-packing industry and Sinclair’s own views lead me to discover a new era of writers I didn’t know existed. These writers brought to the attention of the nation problems that were carefully shielded from the public’s eyes. Many of these authors such as Upton Sinclair, Jack London, Ida Tarbell and many others took a particularly Socialistic view and this was expressed in their writing. A few of the books that Sinclair wrote had an especially socialistic tone, such as The Jungle which was published in 1906. Conflictive to most people’s beliefs The Jungle was not written to reform the meat-packing industry and incite pure food acts. He stated, â€Å"I aimed at the public’s heart, and by accident I hit it in the

Tourism Marketing Term Paper Example

Essays on Tourism Marketing: Great Wall of China as a Tourist Attraction Term Paper The paper "Tourism Marketing: Great Wall of China as a Tourist Attraction" is a good example of a term paper on marketing. The paper seeks to synchronize the various concepts that are harbored in tourism, their developments, and their shortcomings. The main aim of the report is to analyze the Great Wall of China as a tourist attraction in relation to the segmentation strategy that the attraction employs. In addition, the paper will present two pieces of marketing communication from the attraction that demonstrates its segmentation strategy. This is in relation to the various marketing approaches that tourist attractions apply and subsequently implement to remain at the top of world-class tourist attractions. Primarily, it will focus on the Great Wall of China as a tourist attraction that has arguably made China a tourist destination not forgetting the economic input that it has brought to the Asian country.IntroductionTourism (Franklin 2003) sharply remains a force to reckon with whe n it comes to the social-cultural development of any given area across the world. In this regard, tourism nowadays regulates the economic development of not only developing countries but also developed countries. In the early years, tourism was seen as a preserve of the economically stable members of the society but with progression in years, it has been adopted by all classes in the society. This was a result of huge expenditures that accompanied tourism that was not parallel to most people’s income thus tourism became a luxurious affair and not a basic necessity. In light of this, the continued development of tourism has metamorphosized the exercise from a mere social activity to a business venture leading to the eminent development of the hospitality industry and also the management of tourist attraction sites by both the government and non-governmental organizations alike (Johan W. 2001).Tourism, tourist attraction, tourism marketing, and touristThe term tourism refers to the voluntary act of visiting luxurious places either for domestic or foreign purposes to sample new events, places and accustom themselves with newer cultural values across the globe. In light of this, tourism is practiced by individuals branded as tourists meaning that they simply ‘tour’ places. Tourism is also a learning experience as tourists gain a considerable amount of knowledge from the visits. For instance, they learn new cultures, languages and fashion trends that they carry home at the end of the tourist dispensation. Tourist attractions, therefore, provide ample leeway for the provision of foreign exchange that fosters development.Tourist attraction's viability is influential and advantageous only if the political atmosphere is contusive. This is because political administrations play a significant role in the realization of peace and democracy that foster tourism. It is highly unlikely that tourists will visit tourist attractions in a conflict country.

He takes the sponge squeezes the water into the food bowl. The counselor says, not that one, and slides him another bowl. He squeezes it into that bowl. The counselor begins to read to them again. He picks up h is package that is all wet now, looks at it then puts it on the floor behind him looks at it. He again focuses on the counselor that is reading to them. He props his head up by putting his chin on both hands. He seems to move back forth a lot. While he is listening he chews on his fingers plays with his mouth. It Is termed Classical Humanism because It was born during that time period. Classical Humanism had an Impact during the Renaissance Era. Surrounded by the new Athens, the Parthenon still stands proudly over It, a reminder of the old aura of the city. The Acropolis and its Parthenon are the ultimate achievement of the citys classical architecture and symbol of greatness. Parthenon is a building which was burnt by Persians when it was under construction. It is basically a construction of a Greek temple dedicated to Greek goddess Athena Palls or Parthenon (virgin). The Parthenon Is a temple of the Doric order with eight columns at the facade, and seventeen columns at the flanks, conforming to the established ratio of 9:4. The south side shows the triumph of the Greeks against the Amazons and the north the victory of the Athenian on the Trojan. The frieze that covers the sides of the temple depicts the most important religious festival in Ancient Greece, the Pantheon. HTML FIFO Question #1 : Discuss the role of Christian monasticism in sustaining European civilization during the early Middle Ages. Refer to specifically to monasticism contributions to the arts, learning, and education from the age of Charlemagne to Peter Ballard. Christian monasticism is a calling that very early believers pursued. All of the early believers had three essential vows: poverty, chastity, and obedience. They all believed that they are dedicating ones life to prayer and devotion to the sprit. Giving up on materials possessions provided a way to dedicating ones life to shadowing Chrisms apostles was the road to salvation. The first European area to adopt monasticism was Ireland and later spread to France. It spread of monasticism lead to great influences in the areas artistic expression, learning, and education. The early expression of monastic influence in architecture was seen in the building of the great Abbey of Carolingian Age which is known as the plan of SST. Gall. It was centered by the theme of a great church. The church was always the most imposing feature of a monastic complex. By its size and hierarchical complexity, it expressed many of the aspirations of the community to which it belonged. It also gave some indication of the Anneal and prosperity of the monastery and, inside, would probably commemorate patrons who provided sustained support to the community. The most precious unman remains in a monastic church were the relics of saints preserved in shrines behind the high altar. The Church became a center for learning, with the monks becoming cultural carriers transmitting the written treasures of the past by preserving and copying ancient texts. An example of this would be Horsiest. Horsiest rote books about Christian legends and wrote Roman dramas with an Christian spin to it. Often, the only literate members of society were the monks/priest. It was the monks who made and transmitted written copies of the Bible and other ancient Norms from generation to generation. They organized some of the first libraries. They conducted scientific and other research to benefit the surrounding communities. They were expert farmers who were able to pass on the benefits of their expertise to peasants on the large manors. Monasticism has played a vital role in the creation, preservation, and transmission of culture. This is especially true of the Christian Monasticism during the Middle Ages. References: http://www. Org/wick/Monastic_school Adventures in the Human Spirit, Philip Bishop DEEDED Intro to Humanities Unit 3 writing assignment Question #2: Define three essentials elements of the baroque style in the arts and illustrate these elements with three details examples of baroque art. Choose your examples from two different artistic media (painting, music, architecture, sculpture period in Western European art music from about 1600 to 1750.The Baroque period is a style that uses excessive motion and simply interpreted detail to produce drama, tension, exuberance, and grandeur in sculpture, painting, architecture, literature, dance and music. The desire to evoke emotional states by appealing to the senses in dramatic way is the basic principle of the baroque period. One of the best illustrations of the baroque period is through music. Contrast is an important Ingredient in the drama of a baroque composition. The differences between loud and soft, solo and ensemble, different instruments and timbres all play an important role in many baroque compositions.Composers also began to be more precise about instrumentation, often specifying the instruments on which a piece should be played instead of allowing the performer to choose. Also unity of mood is another key to baroque music. What is happy will be happy throughout and what is sad continues to the end. Composers molded the musical language to fit mood. Some definite rhythms ND melodic patterns are used to define certain moods and expressions. The prime exception of this characteristic to this baroque principle of the unity of mood is drastic changes of emotions in the text may inspire corresponding changes in music. But even in such cases, the certain mood will continue for quite some time before it changes to another. Images are direct, obvious, and dramatic. Another illustration of the elements of the Baroque period is through Art. The Baroque art shares the all the same principles of its era. It tries to draw the viewer into the scene and is emotionally intense in its depictions. It will be physically and psychologically real while using dramatic use of color and contrasts of light to dark. The Crucifixion of Saint Peter is exemplifies the elements of the baroque period. In this painting, SST.Peter is being crucified. He asked to be hung from his cross upside-down as not to imitate his Lord. Rhea divine light shines on Peter while the faces of the Romans are masked by shadows. The architecture in the Baroque period was used in two main ways, churches and palaces. Complex architectural plan shapes, often based on the oval, and the dynamic opposition and interpenetration of spaces were favored to heighten he feeling of motion and sensuality. Other characteristic qualities include grandeur, drama and contrast (especially in lighting), rounded, and twisting elements.Architects like to apply bright colors and vividly painted ceilings. An example of this is shown through the new SST. Palls Cathedral in London. The Baroque period was extremely influential in this time period and has been shown throughout the various artistic medias. During 19th century, the world observed the rapid areas. This had a profound influence in artists and thinkers of this era. Online Degrees Grow in Popularity and Prominence

Online Degrees Grow in Popularity and Prominence Until recently, an online degree was more likely to be associated with a diploma mill than a legitimate institution of higher education. Granted, in some cases, this reputation was well-earned. Many for-profit online schools are unaccredited and have been the target of federal investigations and lawsuits as a result of their fraudulent practices, which include charging outrageous fees and promising jobs they can’t deliver. However, many of those schools have been driven out of business. And now, online degrees and certificates are becoming more popular with students and employers. What’s responsible for the change in perception? Prestigious schools Such Ivy League schools as Yale, Harvard, Brown, Columbia, Cornell, and Dartmouth offer either online degrees or certificates. Some of the many other top-rated schools with online programs include MIT, RIT, Stanford, USC, Georgetown, Johns Hopkins, Purdue, and Penn State. â€Å"More prestigious universities are embracing the online degree,† according to Dr. Corinne Hyde,  assistant professor for USC Rossier’s online masters in teaching degree. Hyde tells ThoughtCo, â€Å"We now see top-ranked schools taking their degree programs online and delivering very high quality content that is equivalent to, if not in some cases better than, what they’re delivering on the ground.† So, what’s the lure of online education to top schools? Patrick Mullane, executive director of Harvard Business School’s HBX, tells ThoughtCo, â€Å"Universities see online education as a way to broaden their reach and more effectively fulfill their missions.† He explains, â€Å"They see mounting evidence that when online programs are done well, they can be as effective as in-person education.† Natural progression of technology As digital technology becomes more ubiquitous, consumers expect their learning options to reflect this level of pervasiveness. â€Å"More people in all demographics are comfortable  with  the on-demand nature of technology and the quality of product or service it can deliver,† Mullane says. â€Å"If we can buy stocks, order food, get a ride, purchase insurance, and speak to a computer that will turn on our living room lights, then why can’t we learn in a way very different from how most learned in the past?† Convenience Technology has also produced an expectation of convenience, and this is one of the primary benefits of an online education. â€Å"From the student’s perspective, there is a massive appeal to being able to pursue a desirable degree without having to pick up and move across the country, or even without having to commute across town,† Hyde explains. â€Å"These degrees are generally highly flexible in terms of where students can be while completing the work, and they offer access to the same high-quality resources and faculty that students would receive if they were in a brick and mortar classroom.† While juggling school with work and other demands is challenging at best, it’s obviously easier when not tethered to a physical class that is offered at times that are set in stone. Quality Online programs have also evolved in terms of quality and implementation. â€Å"Some people immediately think of impersonal, asynchronous courses when they hear ‘online degree,’ but that couldn’t be further from the truth,† Hyde says. â€Å"I have taught online for eight years and build outstanding relationships with my students.† Using  webcams, she sees her students live for weekly class sessions and routinely has one-on-one video conferences when not in class. In fact, Hyde believes that online education provides greater opportunities for connecting with her pupils. â€Å"I can see the environment in which students are learning – I meet their kids and their pets – and I engage in conversation and application of the concepts to their own lives.† While she might not meet her students in person until the commencement program, Hyde says she has developed relationships with them long before then – and often, these relationships continue afterward. â€Å"I work very hard to create a true community of learners in the classroom by engaging in deep, thoughtful conversation, mentoring them in their work, and staying connected with them on social media once my class is complete. Learning Approaches Online programs are as diverse as the schools that offer them. However, some colleges and universities have taken online learning to another level. For example, HBX focuses on active learning. â€Å"As in a Harvard Business School classroom, there are no long, drawn-out faculty-led lectures,† Mullane says. â€Å"Our online business courses are designed to keep learners engaged throughout the learning process.† What does active learning entail at HBX? â€Å"Open responses† is one of the exercises that allows students to think through decisions as though they were the business leader in a given situation, and describe the choices they would make. â€Å"Interactive exercises like random cold calls, polls, interactive demonstrations of concepts, and quizzes, are other ways HBX utilizes active learning.† Students also take advantage of technology platforms to ask and answer questions among themselves, in addition to having their own private Facebook and LinkedIn groups to engage with each other. Just in case learning Even when students don’t pursue an online degree program, they can get advanced training that can often lead to career advancement or meet the requirements of an employer. â€Å"More and more students are turning to online credential or certificate programs to learn a specific skillset, rather than going back to school for a master’s program or second bachelor’s,† Mullane says. â€Å"A colleague of mine has called this shift one from  Ã¢â‚¬Ëœjust in case learning’ (which is characterized by the traditional multi-discipline degree) to  Ã¢â‚¬â„¢just in time learning’ (which is characterized by shorter and more focused courses that deliver specific skills).† MicroMasters are an example of credentials for employees who have a bachelor’s degree and might not want to pursue a full-blown graduate degree.    Check out this list of the most popular online degrees.

Presentation essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Presentation - Essay Example It is unarguable that war is a horrible thing. It causes death on a large scale, and can wound, make homeless, or otherwise harm many more people than it kills. War disrupts peoples lives, and some philosophies like Egoism might argue that getting involved in foreign wars especially is unethical. By taking a Utilitarian view, though, we can argue that even though war is horrible, it can still be an ethical action, because it may eventually benefit people in a way that not going to war and staying with the current state of affairs in a foreign country would not. One obvious example that is often questioned in ethical terms is the US-led invasion of Iraq in 2003. This is a sticky question, ethically speaking, because whether or not the war has benefited people depends on who you ask. Before the invasion, the country was ruled by Saddam Hussein, who was executed for crimes against humanity due to his 1982 attack on a village after a failed assassination attempt. It could be argued that, from a utilitarian point of view, the lives of the people of Iraq have been improved by Husseins removal from power. Now that the fighting is mostly over, and peoples lives have improved to almost where they were before, it could be argued that there has been a net gain in happiness and benefit, as the people of Iraq now live in a free, democratic nation where they do not have to deal with a tyrannical ruler. However, there are some arguments for the opposite view as well. Although the people of Iraq now no longer have to be ruled by Saddam Hussein, and have held several free and fair elections, they now have to worry about suicide bombers and extremists. Many of these attacks are over now, but the nation is still not a safe place to live, and was arguably safer under Husseins regime as long as you were not on his bad side. These problems, coupled with the undeniable suffering that

In the U.S. market, the company currently ranks second after General Motors, which is the world’s leading automaker. PESTEL analysis implies political, economic, social, technological, environmental analysis that helps in understanding the macro-environmental factors that affect the operation of Ford. These factors are discussed h ereunder: Politics of a country is very important as far as far as car manufacturing is concerned. The U.S. politics influence the legislation and laws by which car manufacturing companies like Ford operates. For instance, Ford’s operation has hugely been affected by the political pressure from the government of the United States regarding the global warming caused by greenhouse gaseous emissions. In this regard, the government has imposed certain measures aimed at limiting the level of gaseous emissions that a particular vehicle has to emit to the environment. This has threatened the operation of Ford because complying with some of these laws is not easy, as they require a total change of the manufacturing process. Ford is also required to comply with the tax policies imposed by the government. The changes in tax policies by the U.S. government particularly by increasing taxes on the automobile industry has affected the operation of the company in recent times where it servi ce high taxes in order to be able to operate. For instance, the idea to introduce a road tax proportional to the number of gaseous emissions is affecting the company’s operations.

The Application Of Mis In Honda

The Application Of Mis In Honda Introduction Management Information system is a kind of system which helps in providing information to the organization so that they can run efficiently. MIS can be regarded as a subset of the whole internal control processes in an organization which consists of the documents, applications of people, technologies and processes that are used by management accountants which they use for solving business problems like pricing or costing the service or product (Bidgoli, 2010). Management Information System is different from the other kinds of information systems because they are applied in analyzing the operational activities of the organization. Rationally, MIS is used for referring the group of information management techniques applied together for the support of decision making process in a business which is Expert Systems, Executive Information Systems and Decision Support systems (Lucey, 2005). Honda A manufacturing organization Honda is the world largest producer of the motorcycles and internal combustion engines that are measurable by volume mainly producing more than fourteen million internal combustion engines each year. With the progress of Honda in the manufacturing sector, it has also generated astounding amount of data. Even though IT departments have an advantage over the improvement in the hardware components for storing large amount of data, but still the fact gap exists in the Honda to met the needs of useful data at aright time to make effective and efficient decisions. For Honda, getting right kind of information is important in todays environment which it was not required before, therefore reducing costs, enhanced productivity and maximization of profits. Managers of Honda have to administer the intricacy of the supply chain, internal control and manufacturing as well as meeting the customer and distribution demands. In todays business environment manufacturers are forced to make effective decisions on a regular basis with the limited information system. Honda has to face mounting globalization, increased competition than before and customers whose needs are reflected in their own facts and opportunities of a global market. Besides maintaining proficient business, Honda has grown its emphasis on the information technology. With the rising needs for partnership, connectivity and speed in the modern economy, Honda has started looking for ways to give authority to their employees so that they can work smartly to compete with their competitors in the current market scenario. Any business without the information technology is failed to deliver competitive edge and is just wasting the potential of their human resource. Honda observes this change and adopts useful hardware and software in their company. MIS -information across various departments With the advent of time, internet and the global economy has got so well with each other such that there is requirement of proactive plans to be implemented in the organization, thereby, constant connection of employees to the web and with each other. Most of the IT departments are spending their time on budgeting personal computer equipments, but making choice for the Hondas network hardware infrastructure seems to be a critical decision. When planning for the network infrastructure for Honda, it is vital to consider the issues like how employees will share access to the information, which of the data is important and how to maintain it, what is the actual demand; is it for wireless computers? And what are your plans for integrating peripherals. Hondas hardware pattern is the basic element for driving employees connectivity and collaboration. (Bocji, 2005) Performance and price are the key determinants which are there to dictate from where to begin the search. The present scenario for the hardware system consists of wide variety of providers or manufactures like Juniper, Foundry, Cisco and many more. The MIS systems from the top manufacturers are useful in providing implausible security and performance but it could be expensive for the company. Honda maintains the balance between the price and performance for smartening up their hardware equipments. Many companies are there who specialize in providing price efficient businesses through brand name network hardware equipment. For the purchase of new hardware equipment, Honda needs to look its eyes open for the alternatives that best suits to their company profile. Even, proper search should be made regarding potential services and additional support with the hardware equipments purchase. It should be certain that the hardware manufacturer should have a brand name while keeping in mind th e organizations decisions and interests. The tools of the management information system help the organization and its workforce in performing the jobs which are related to the processing of information. The collaboration of business systems and MIS is useful in decision making as it collates the production reports and business data. Application of MIS in Honda Helps in decision making With the presence of computer everywhere, it is hard for any business to escape from the use of IT systems. Some of the fields or departments are there in HONDA where MIS is priceless. While computers are not able to create strategies of their own but still they can help mangers of the organization in efficient decision making process and make them understand the usefulness of strategies. MIS is capable of converting data into useful information which can be employed in decision making. Even, MIS assists Honda in providing performance reports and financial statements which is functional for planning, supervising and implementation of plans. MIS also aids Honda in collating valuable information and transform it into rational reports which otherwise be useless as it is impossible to manage volumes of data manually. With the help of these reports, Honda can recognize trends and patterns which would be impossible if all the work is done physically. MIS systems make use of the raw data to run replication and answer a variety of theoretical questions such as what if concerning modification in strategies. For instance, MIS can tell Honda about the effect of alterations in price on the sales of their cars. Due to the Decision Support Systems, Honda can be enabled to make more of the informed decisions within the organizations which otherwise would be impossible without MIS. Data collection Even though MIS helps in collating numerable amounts of business information, but they are also useful for providing saving time benefit to the employees. In contrast with the past where files are to b handled manually, now MIS quickly examines the data after entering it into the computer through data processor. Thus, enhancing faster decision making in the organization which is reflect in the efficient working. Information system Everyday business require some or the other kind of information system in the organization. With the computerized system recording and business process management is vital to run the company at a profit as well as responding to the fluctuations in the market. Management information system, however, are perfect for gathering and reporting information related to the companys business process. MIS enables Honda to review the data and make use of the information for achieving the companys objectives. (Clarke, 2007) Management methods The information provided by the MIS help the managers to look at the areas or departments where there is need for the improvement (Pearlson, nd). What will be the techniques and approaches for correcting the business activities will lie on the part of mangers abilities and style of management that is practiced in the organization. By making use of de-centralized management approach, line mangers are able to make corrections quickly as it requires a great amount of autonomy in the management process. With the centralized management approach, the power and authority lies with the top management only so that they can take decisions (Stone, 2002). Resource management MIS system allows Honda to look at the utilization of resources and see if they are making use of the resources in a proper and efficient manner. Equipments, raw materials, assets, labor and some other are the examples of management resources that must be supervised and monitored regularly by the organization. With an inefficient use of resources company may be pulled back in the competitive environment and may loose competitive edge over the competitors. This also leads to the losses for the company by reducing profit margins and lessening sales. Decision process Many of the companies make use of some sort of decision processes when they gathered information from the MIS system. Every single unit of data is reviewed and is used to make decisions regarding operational activities, market trends, profit margins etc. the process of decision making consists of all the levels of management, tends to generate most well-informed decisions (Wright, 2009). Communication Appropriate communication allows managers to take decisions for the organizations based on the information provided by the MIS. Communication system permits top-level managers to discuss the data from the front-line managers and department level managers, thus, creating downward flow of the communication for making decisions. Upward flow of communication is also important for the decision making process which allows front-line managers to have an opportunity to discuss the information from MIS with the top level management. Open communication flow allows Honda to obtain input or information from all the levels of the management to make informed decisions obtained from the MIS system. Environmental management With the establishment of the business in the global environment, Honda is planning to introduce environmental management system for continually improving the practices to be done for the protection of environment. With the MIS system, Honda is getting proactive to acquire environmental management ISO 14001 certification for the production processes and other services. (Garson, 2003) Kinds of MIS Financial MIS this MIS states the past and present records of the Honda and its activities. The financial MIS shows the profits and losses of Honda, its financial records to represent how well company is going, decisions regarding control of the cost and spending of funds. Manufacturing MIS this MIS monitors the flow of goods and services, raw materials and components of Honda. Raw goods which are processed on Honda get monitored by this manufacturing MIS. In this way, Honda with the aid of manufacturing MIS can reduce and control the cost of goods and services. Marketing MIS this MIS is created for handling all the aspects of marketing like prices, sales, advertisements, product innovations, future decision making etc. Marketing MIS aids decisions regarding product appearance of the Honda. It helps the company in enhancing customer contacts by preparing questionnaires for the feedback by customers about the services of Honda and tracks out the spending habits of the customer. Human Resource MIS HR MIS helps Honda in recruiting and selection of candidates. Human Resource views the requirements of the workers, hiring procedures, workforce rules, and training and performance assignments. The task for the Hondas Human Resource MIS is to look at MIS also deals with the external and internal information or data. The information regarding the internal working of the Honda can be easily available from the companys network, for e.g., sales for each car. The information of the external environment can be collated from: MIS is however, different from information system and data processing system (Lauden, 2007). Operational information systems just read the collated data and perform the tasks like producing lists of stuff that are required for re-ordering. Data processing systems helps in recording daily transactions like sales of Honda cars in a particular month. Whereas MIS assist the managers in analysing and evaluating the data related to the sales to show the pattern and trends of diverse product lines, enabling them to make efficient decisions regarding the product and its promotion or whether the promotion should be discontinued. It even collects the external data: Data on the population shifts with the increase in age of the people, they are less likely to be interested in customizing cars. Intelligence about competitors activities this information can be gathered from the newspapers, articles or from market intelligence. Government Legislation if there is increase in minimum wages, then financial condition would change. Economic and Social Factors sales for the cars would fall in a particular area where the employer had closed its plant. MIS even collates the data regarding formal and informal flow of the information Formal Flow of information is the one in which a process is accepted, e.g. downloading the sales figures across the several branches. External information can be gathered through data collection agencies like Bradstreet and Dun which provides economic data for the commercial and academic organizations. Formal flows of information can also be collected from the people who are working on the similar document at different locations, by making use of company intranets and e-mails. Informal flows of information are provided through reading newspapers or articles, chance meetings, or by watching news. The medical care and payroll of the employees. Facilitation Decision Making at Three Tiers of Management Management Information System even provides Honda the information on the regular basis. The term MIS implies three main functions Arrangement, Purpose and Order. The information system is useful for various purposes and at various levels. Its main uses are: It helps in strategic planning and its implementation. It lessens or reduces the service cycles Enhances the productivity of the employees resulting in efficient working Better understanding of consumer needs and demands Lessening the product development and marketing life cycles Smoothening the progress of Honda business and re-engineering process. The use of MIS can be applied across the administration for Carrying the procedures of policy making Carrying the research and development Recognizing the kinds of risk and ways for managing it Meeting the necessary legislative and regulatory requirements Assessing performance, achievements and quality Enabling the efficient and effective use of resources Supporting reliable and quick decision making Providing facts for business transactions The process of decision making is fundamental at various levels in Honda. These are made within the Honda at Strategic, Programs, Operational and Activity level. MIS at Different Levels of Management in Honda: Senior Management it directs the senior management for planning strategic business plan, provides information for the positioning of the Honda business, implementing policies and plans, analysis of competitors and evaluation of performance of the employees and the external factors which have an influence over the direction of strategic plans. Middle level of Management at the middle level, MIS assists managers in performing operational and organizational functions by providing: Assessment of resource usage Data for operational planning Data for delivery procedures Information for synchronization of work units Ways for controlling budget and problem solving It also allows middle level management for program administration by Providing data for implementing procedures Managing resource usage Scheduling of project and plans Providing information for administrating programs Line Management it allows line managers to manage activities of Honda by providing Information for problem solving Data for making consistent decision making And information for routine service delivery MIS plays an important role for providing information to the mangers to perform the above functions so as they can make informed decisions (Oz, 2009). The main purpose of the Management Information System is the transformation of data from external and internal sources into useful and valuable information which can be used for making effective decisions. A manger can take two kinds of decision which can be either structured or unstructured structured decisions are repetitive decisions and are taken routinely regarding the replacement of a supplier or stock. Whereas unstructured decisions need proper insight into the problem, knowledge and evaluation for carrying the business processes. Mangers have to go through different stages while considering the related decisions Identify the problem the MIS provides information regarding the performance of the departments and where the actual problem is arising Mull over the solution proper use of spreadsheet to know the issue like what if Scenario The solution so chosen is based on the information provided by the MIS and mangers experience. The solution is then implemented and reviewed. At this level, MIS again provides the data according to which solution can be evaluated. MIS An Efficient Mean to Manage Business Process Business process management can be termed or defined as the series of activities that are implemented in business organizations ranging from planning, leading, organizing, monitoring and controlling (Jeston, 2008). The five major functions of managers of Honda are Planning the directive functions for the company like where it is going to operate, diversifying etc Organising it deals with the organising of the resources like space, people, services and equipment. Coordinating it requires the coordination of the activities of different departments of Honda Decision Making what decisions should be taken for the growth of Honda, its products and services, employees and its IT department Controlling supervising and monitoring the activities of various departments of Honda As a leading company in this global environment, Honda has to face several challenges for managing thousands of its existing parts and at the same time qualifying, sourcing and approving new products. With the increase in competitive pressure, Honda has chosen management information system for managing their business process in association with qualifying and sourcing new raw materials so as to meet the critical requirements for scheduling (Magal, 2009). Problems New parts are being sourced constantly causing duplication in the organization. Existing parts are required to be updated with the altering specification. For the substitute parts, time consuming search has to be done Solution With the employment of management information system, the duplication of parts is easily recognized, thus reducing surplus inventories or stocks. With the automation of vendors and raw materials and parts, the business process of Honda has shown efficiency Search is now become simpler as qualified vendors are supplying parts Benefits It provides vision to the managers to see backlogs and buyer workloads Now time required for sourcing the parts have been reduced due to MIS The suppliers and vendors are continually managed while assuring accuracy and reduction in cost at the same time. The schedules for the new products are met on time and is exceeded by reshuffling the business process     With the enhancement of Business processes in Honda, there is need for more efficient production processes. With the improved and better information and data on the business processes, there is a closer approach to enhance the supply chain management which includes all the processes ranging from the sourcing of the raw materials to the production and allocation of the finished products. As a result of the improvement in management of supply chain, Honda is able to response efficiently to the changes in the market. With the efficient implementation of MIS, Honda is able to react rapidly to the external environment as well as MIS enable the organisation to render better and efficient service and products to be able to move ahead of their competitors and enjoying larger share of the market. While MIS is extremely helpful to generate data analysis and statistical reports, it is also useful for creating Management by Objectives tool. MBO is an administrative procedure through which managers and their subordinates and co-workers concur on the sequences of objectives to be achieved within a set time frame for the employees. Objectives are set with the SMART approach, that is, the goals should be specific, measurable, agreed, realistic and time-specific. The main purpose of SMART objectives is to give basic indicators through which an organization can judge or evaluate the performance of their employees. To make MBO a success, it is necessary to track the progress rate consistently. For this purpose, MIS system is best to make use of. As all the SMART objectives are measurable as mentioned in its name, the progress can be tracked with the help of management reports which are to be analyzed by the policy makers. Conclusions Every organization consists of one or more than one core competency, that is, to have a competitive edge over their competitors. With the application of proficient management information system, Honda has better chances to be ahead of their competitors. MIS provides necessary tools to Honda to better understand the enterprise and the external environment or the market. Management information system is an approach set out of internal control that helps Honda management in operating business day after day. It is just not a tool used for collating the information but allows the managers of Honda in the process of decision making that are used by the management. With the employment of MIS in the organization, Honda has found many benefits of it in the system. MIS assist Honda in describing its objectives and its resources. It even permits the managers of Honda for creating reports about the activities of the company regarding products and services, business partners, people, employees and inventories. It helps in keeping the resources of Honda in an organized manner. MIS track the records of resources and maintain the in an organized way. Patrick Moore †Cofounder of Greenpeace Essay -- Biography Environment

Patrick Moore – Cofounder of Greenpeace After more than 15 years of co-founding and heading up Greenpeace, Patrick Moore switched sides and views. Instead of the radical environmental activism that Greenpeace encompasses, Moore now focuses on how we can benefit humans while remaining as environmentally safe as possible. Patrick Moore was born in 1947 and raised in Winter Harbour, British Columbia, a fishing and logging village on the northwestern tip of Vancouver Island often referred to as the Pacific rainforest. His father was a logger and the past president of the B.C. Truck Loggers Association, while his mother came from a family of fishermen. At the age of fourteen, Moore was sent to boarding school in Vancouver. Later, at the University of British Columbia he studied life sciences. Throughout his time at UBC, Moore discovered his love for ecology, because it gave him an understanding of the rainforest he lived in as a child (Moore, â€Å"Environmentalism† 1). In 1971, Moore started Greenpeace out of his hometown. The group was originally called the ‘Don’t Make a Wave Committee’ (Bate, par. 2). The committee went to Alaska to protest against US nuclear testing in the Aleutian Islands. They set out on an old fishing boat from the Vancouver harbor to disrupt the tests, but were intercepted by the U.S. Coast Guard and arrested. Despite the arrest, the mission ended up being successful. President Nixon cancelled the remaining nuclear tests (Moore, â€Å"Environmentalism† 3). During his 15 years with Greenpeace, Moore was the scientific spokesperson. He served for nine years as president for Greenpeace Canada, and seven years as director for Greenpeace International Borders, par. 3). The organization campaign... ...y and improve health (Moore â€Å"Battle† par. 10-11). Moore currently lives in Vancouver and still works with the B.C. logging industry, writing articles, performing speeches, and appearing on television for them. Chromatography

Student name: Amal Al-Hamdani Teacher name :Alia Alfi Group name: 2 Year: 2018 Chromatography  is  a physical method  used in lab  for  separation of  a mixture of chemical substances into its individual components, so that the individual components can be thoroughly analyzed.  it has numerous applications in  biological  and  chemical  fields.  it  is widely used in  biochemical  research for the separation and identification of  chemical compounds  of biological origin. Chromatography  consists of two  phase;  a  mobile phase  (a liquid or a gas)  , which  Ã‚  flows through  the  stationary  Ã‚  phase  , and a  stationary  Ã‚  phase  (a solid) .the stationary phase has certain physical and chemical characteristic that allow it to interact in various ways with different compound . A common types of  Ã‚  stationary  Ã‚  phase  Ã‚  are ;ion exchange chromatography, Affinity Chromatography, Gas Chromatography, liquid Chromatography†¦etc.Gas ChromatographyGas Chromatography  (GC)  or,  gas-liquid chromatography (GLC)  is a useful  tool  technique  that, allows us to separate and identify individual components in the mixture.  also, Gas Chromatography  can measure the concentration  of various components in the mixture for samples that have volatile  components  and,  separate mixture  by adherence to a surface. Method: 3590925369570000 A gas chromatograph uses a flow-through narrow tube known as the column, through which different chemical constituents of a sample pass in a gas stream (carrier gas, mobile phase) at different rates depending on their various chemical and physical properties and their interaction with a specific column filling, called the stationary phase. As the chemicals exit the end of the column, they are detected and identified electronically. The function of the stationary phase in the column is to separate different components, causing each one to exit the column at a different time (retention time). Other parameters that can be used to alter the order or time of retention are the carrier gas flow rate, For example, internal standards it is commonly used way in  Gas Chromatography to calculate  the  concentration of an analyte. for any particular detector, the relative response factor for the  analyte compared  to the  internal standards must be determined first. calibrating the linearity of the response factor for the  analyte compared  to the  internal standards requires making a series of the solutions with the same concentration of the standards, and a varying concentration of analyte. Plotting the response of the analyze relative to the standard (peak area of analyte/peak area of standards) versus the concentration of the analyte relative to the standard ([analyte]/ [ standard]) should produce a straight -line graph whose slope in the response factor.C+O2? CO2 +heatThis is a fast reaction and there a lot of physical method to slow down and stop fast reactions for example:Reducing the temperature at which a reaction occurs i.e. cool things down.adding a reagent which will react with the remaining reactantUsing reagents that have a small surface area i.e. the substance is in large lumps.Using a catalyst – the right catalyst can slow down the rate at which a chemical reaction occurs. The rate of reaction for a concentrated strong acid with a concentrated strong base is most affected by what three things the use of a catalyst, a change in temperature, a change in reactant concentration. We are going to use temperature temperature normally speed the reaction and i t also slow it down by lowering the it because the rate and the temperature has a Positive relationship so if temperature is high the reaction speed increase and if the temperature is low the reaction speed decrease and that is according to  van't Hoff's law,  an increase in temperature will cause an increase in the rate of an endothermic reaction. The effect of the temperature can be explained by the fact that increasing temperature will move the particles at higher speeds and the impact of the collisions leading to the interaction is large, which increases the speed of the reactionand also, at higher temperatures, higher percentages of collisions produce a chemical reaction because higher percentages of molecules have greater velocity, and enough energy is available to react. Explanatory examples tell the effect of temperature on the rate of chemical reaction rateIncreased temperature helps to speed the maturity of food.Increasing the pressure in the pressure vessels leads to an increase in temperature inside the so the food is cooked very quickly.Keeping food in the refrigerator help not to spoil it because the temperature of the refrigerator is low, and this leads to a decrease in the speed of geochemical reactions that cause food corruption. The temperature change in the chemical balanced reaction, leading to the interaction in the opposite direction, which cancels the effect of this change Interpretation In the case of heat-reactive reactionsI-Reduce the temperature The interaction is facilitated in the direction that reduces the effect of lowering the temperature (which reduces the effect of this effect), ie, the reaction in the direction that causes the increase in temperature is the random directionII-when raising the temperature. The interaction in the direction that reduces the effect of raising the temperature (which reduces the effect of this effect) is facilitated by the interaction in the direction that causes the temperature reduction and is the reverse direction So, in the reaction I did chose it is a exothermic so when we raising the temperature it will slow down the reaction because it is exothermic and when it dose slow down the molecules in the reaction will be slower in moving and the collisions and if it was endo thermic the opposite will happen. And we cannot calculate the rate law because it is experimentally calculated so we can only write the rate low for the reaction C+O2? CO2 +heat Rate low ReferencesPage 1^ â€Å"Gas Chromatography†. Label each of the beakers with one color of the candy. 2. Place one sample in each cup. 3. Put as few drops of water as possible (around 5) in each cup. 4. Stir carefully to extract as much color as possible without disturbing the white coating or the centre of the candy. 5. Remove the sample as soon as the white coating appears. 6. Add each sample in turn to its appropriate cup until as much color has been extracted as possible. Note: Repeat the steps for each kind of candy. Be sure to include the color and kind of candy on your label. Prepare chromatogram 1. Cut a piece of chromatography paper in half to form a rectangle with dimensions 10 cm x 20 cm. 2. Draw a line approximately 1 cm from the long edge of the paper with a pencil. 3. Mark dots along the pencil line approximately 1-1. cm apart and label as food dye colors yellow, green, blue, and red. Mark two additional dots for your choice of two different colored candies. 4. Using a toothpick, carefully wet the spots you have marked with the appropriate food color or the color extracted from your candy. As the spots dry, rewet them with more sample until you have a dark spot. (If yo u do not load enough sample onto the chromatographic paper it will be difficult to detect the spots. ) 5. Curl the paper into a cylinder with the short edges just touching and staple together. 6. Place the chromatogram into a beaker with approximately ? m of solvent on the bottom. Be sure that the entire lower edge of the chromatogram is touching the solvent, but the solvent does not reach above the pencil line. Allow the chromatogram to sit in the beaker until the solvent front is 1 cm from the top of the paper and remove. Draw a line at the solvent front with your pencil. 7. Repeat this process for any additional solvents you wish to use. Analysis of chromatogram. 1. Circle each spot that you see on the chromatogram. 2. measure the distance between the starting point and the center of the spot for each component on your chromatogram 3. easure the distance between the starting point and the solvent front on your chromatogram 4. Calculate the Rf value for each component. 5. Draw con clusions regarding the identity of each component in the chromatogram. 6. Propose reasons why different components had higher or lower Rf values based on the structures below and your knowledge of intermolecular forces. Professional Roles and Values Essay Essays Professional Roles and Values Essay Essay Professional Roles and Values Essay Essay A. Promoting Interdisciplinary Care When nurses promote collaborative interdisciplinary attention. they are guaranting the handiness and handiness of quality wellness attention ( ANA. 2010 ) . As the nursing supervisor in this clinical scene. I would keep a staff meeting with the household nurse practician ( FNP ) . nurse. licensed vocational nurse ( LVN ) . dietician. and societal worker. I would inquire them to talk about their countries of expertness and explicate how their cognition will heighten this clinical squad. The nutritionist’s expertness in diet. the societal worker’s eloquence in Spanish. the LVN’s preparation in instruction. and the nurse’s specialisation in community wellness are all properties that will advance the bringing of quality patient attention. In this meeting. I give illustrations of how the specialised preparation and resources of these persons will better patient attention and ease the work load of other staff members. I foster an unfastened treatment and promote ideas. feelings. and inquiries. I besides province that if person has a inquiry or concern that they do non wish to discourse in forepart of everyone. they can talk to me in private. B. Delegation and Teamwork As the nurse supervisor. I would utilize a coaching attack to talk to Ms. W. Coaching provides a safe environment for seeking different attacks to new or ambitious state of affairss ( Robinson-Walker. Detmer. and Schultz. 2011 ) . I would bespeak to hold tiffin with Ms. W and at this tiffin. I begin by praising her work and stressing her importance to this clinic. In a blithe and non-confrontational manner. I say. â€Å"I know how difficult you have been working with Ms. R and you must be so defeated! † I encourage a response by inquiring. â€Å"Why do you believe she is being non-compliant? † I listen to her responses without disrupting and work into the conversation these inquiries: â€Å"Do you think it’s possible she does non understand English? What do you believe about holding the societal worker speak to her? † The LVN’s expertness in community wellness and her available resources would besides be mentioned. I emphasize that deputing to membe rs of the squad will be in the best involvement of the patient. every bit good as free up some of Ms. R’s valuable clip. B1. Duty The Nursing Code of Ethics Provision 2 provinces that the nurse’s primary committedness is to the patient and it farther implies that nurses should actively advance collaborative multi-disciplinary planning ( American Nurses Association. 2012 ) . If Ms. W does non hold clip to follow through with community services that could profit Ms. R. so Ms. W has a duty to mention Ms. R to people who have the cognition. resources. and clip to assist her. In add-on to the Nursing Code of Ethics. the National Council of State Boards of Nursing ( NCSBN ) states that one of the criterions related to the RN range of pattern is that nurses evaluate the patient’s response to nursing attention. They do this by measuring: the patient’s response to intercessions. the demand for alternate intercessions. the demand to confer with with other squad members. and the demand to revise the program of attention ( NCSBN. 2012 ) . When Ms. W saw that the patient was non compliant. she should hold reevaluated her program of attention. Ms. W can depute to the LVN. who is experienced in antenatal instruction. and would be able to explicate the importance of completing antibiotic therapy or acting trials that are indispensable for a healthy gestation. If Ms. W is excessively busy to educate. so she is responsible for happening person who can. B2. Recommended Resource A resource that would profit Ms. W in larning more about delegation is the go oning instruction class given by the ANA. â€Å"Developing Delegation Skills. † This class covers deputation and the associated constructs of answerability. duty. and authorization ( Weydt. 2010 ) . It discusses utilizing nursing judgement and interpersonal relationships during the deputation procedure and at the classs end. the writer speaks about how to develop deputation accomplishments. Learning to decently depute finally improves the quality of patient attention. B3. Delegation Opportunities The nurse in this scenario has 4 co-workers in the clinic that she can depute to: the LVN. nurse. dietician. and societal worker. Ms. R had perennial urinary piece of land infections ; the dietician can reexamine her nutrient and fluid consumption and the LVN can learn antenatal attention based on the nutritionist’s rating and recommendations. The nurse in the clinic can research community resources that may be available to help Ms. R. The societal worker. nevertheless. is the most of import individual in these coactions because it is likely that Ms. R does non understand English and needs an translator. The societal worker is fluid in Spanish and her presence will non merely raise the comfort degree of Ms. W. but will guarantee that she is having the needed information that is pertinent to her gestation. Samuel Coleridge

Samuel Coleridge The Romantic writer Samuel Taylor Coleridge advanced a theory in his Biographia Literaria that distinguished two important and often confused concepts of his day, Imagination and Fancy. In viewing several of his written works, it is evident that he strove to include a steady balance of both.Coleridge proposed that Fancy plays with ?fixities and definites, ? things already common to perception. It reshapes memories in the absence of time and space, without barriers. It is a sort of mosaic reordering of natural perceptions, a collage of reality. It lacks the ability to create something completely original but rather uniquely juxtaposes tangible and sensual elements without losing their distinguishing characteristics.Imagination, on the other hand, leads specifically to original creativity. In the section of Biographia Literaria titled ?On the Imagination, or Esempastic Power? Coleridge illuminates the distinction between Fancy and Imagination. There are two degrees of Imagination, prim ary and secondary.English: Image of poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Fr...Primary Imagination is central to human perception and is analogous to the ?eternal act of creation in the infinite I AM.? This type of Imagination is solely attributed to God and His progressive acts of creation. Secondary Imagination, however, is but a whisper of the Primary. God has embedded this innate ability to create in the human conscious will. It differs only in the degree to which it can be utilized and the modes of its operation; it seeks to unify and idealize, ?dissolving, diffusing, and dissipating in order to recreate.? Coleridge clarifies these concepts further in his Lectures On Shakespeare. He marvels at Shakespeare?s ability to utilize Imagination in his writing, which he calls ?a sort of fusion to force many into one.? Taking several lines from Venus and Adonis he demonstrates the multiplicity of feelings and images the Imagination generates. As for Fancy, he clarifies this concept also...

The redistribution of wealth in US Military Spending Research Paper

The redistribution of wealth in US Military Spending - Research Paper Example In addition to investing in sectors such as education, health, food etc, the government also spends a fortune on funding military services, which are highly important because the overall safety of the country and its citizens rests within the hands of the military personnel. However, the present scenario puts forth a dilemma to the US government, that is, whether to decrease military spending and undertake consecutive risks involved or increase military spending and contribute further to the decline of the economy as well as the deteriorating standard of living of its citizens. Since sectors such as education and health are more productive in promoting personal development among citizens, thus in turn boosting the economy and resulting in further development of the country through lesser inequality in wealth distribution, it becomes clear that the US government should cut back its military spending and invest the wealth of the country in these productive sectors. It is a fact that th e military of any nation is responsible for protecting the citizens as well as the country from both internal and external threats. Thus, it is acknowledged that the country deploys a large number of personnel for military requirements in terms of air force, navy force as well as ground force. Moreover, in the same context, the government of the country makes huge investments in order to support various military operations, provide exceptional training to the troops, fund different endeavours that come under its programs etc. However, despite the fact that it is an absolute necessity to provide for the country’s security and the citizen’s safety, there is indeed a thing such as overspending for military, especially in the case of developed countries like the United States. Contrary to the government’s view of still supporting military expenditure in the present milieu, the American citizens have expressed in a recent nationwide survey conducted by the ‘Cen ter for Public Integrity’ that in order for the country to revive from the current deficit, the government needs to â€Å"cut the defense budget deeply† (Smith, 2012, p. 1). It is due to conspicuous wastage of the nation’s wealth through military, that the government is unable to fully contribute towards economic growth, as well as fulfil the very purpose for which it was established- safeguarding the interests of the citizens and ensuring the welfare of human beings. Furthermore, if the government funded more money for sectors dealing with aspects like education, healthcare, employment, food etc, the country could actually make a difference in its wealth distribution and gradually bridge the gap between the rich and poor sections of society. Thus, it becomes clear that the American government should focus on productive sectors rather than military and simultaneously it should decrease its military expenditure in order to redistribute wealth in the US in a more ideal way. The primary responsibility of the government should be to provide the citizens of the country with basic amenities such as food and shelter. However, the US government is intent on according the highest priority to military warfare as was revealed by its expenditure of â€Å"$737 billion on military defense†

Controversy of Pre-natal Diagnosing Research Paper

Controversy of Pre-natal Diagnosing - Research Paper Example According to medical professionals, policymakers and other interest groups, prenatal testing provide parents the choice of therapeutic abortion freeing them from reproductive risk by preempting the birh of a child with a genetic disease thus liberating them from the financial and emotional burden and distress that the child and the family may experience from â€Å"interpersonal, intrafamilial and intergenerational relations† (Ekberg, 2007, 67). The idea was to detect fetal defect and to give expectant mothers â€Å"choices† if possible abnormality in the fetus is detected. While this may seem to be a medical breakthrough of giving expectant mothers advance information about the health and well being of their upcoming babies, this has however raised a number of disturbing issues. Rather than focusing more on the health and well being of both the babies and the mother, the issue redounded to a cold hearted cost benefit assessment that it will be more cost efficient to â⠂¬Å"terminate a birth† than to spend for the care of a disabled child. ... It also assumes that a fetus which has been diagnosed with abnormality through prenatal diagnosing will have no chance to live a productive, meaningful and rewarding life. It immediately passed a judgment that a child with disability will become an automatic liability to the family and society without a chance to recover nor to live a meaningful life. It is an assumption that is based on the impression on what is probable without inquiring on the state and well-being of the disabled child and his/her families. It also reinforces an intolerant society that discriminates against a trait and persons that does not fit to what the generally constructed concept of normalcy in society. Where before parents had control as to the quantity of childbirth, now it seeks control as to the quality of a child by terminating the birth of a fetus that may have potential defects. It is an impression that is misinformed because when studies were made â€Å"on children and families affected by disabilit ies indicated that disability does not preclude a satisfying life (Asch, 1999, 1649). Further, in a study conducted in 1995 revealed that a child’s disability did not affect the lives of their families and the needs and concerns of those family with disabled child were strikingly similar compared to a family with a normal child. What was distinguishable was only the complexity of the arrangement that is needed to balance the responsibilities at work and home (qtd. in Freedman et al, 1995) , Asch furtherly articulated that â€Å"these professions fail people with disabilities, by concluding that because there may never be full physical recovery, there is never a regrouping of physical, cognitive, and psychological resources with which to participate in a rewarding life (Asch, 1999, 1650).

Emiratisation Thesis Proposal Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Emiratisation - Thesis Proposal Example By 2005, up to 29,000 nationals had registered in the national  job  seeking  body; among them were those who had never been employed while others had only had high school certificates and no further evidence of higher education.  The government sought to reassure nationals’ priority in the recruitment and hiring processes in the private sector by establishing laws compelling privately owned companies to  employ  nationals in case of any openings.  This move by the UAE government has given nationals an  entitlement  to jobs, which has, in turn, lead to them being unappreciative of their jobs and at the same time, employers do not  take  them seriously (Kerr 24). Imposing the employment of nationals to the UAE private sector has resulted in the nationals thinking possess the right to a job resulting in them becoming unmotivated and adopt a relaxed attitude towards the job.  This has  consequently  compelled  company  managers to  limit  the workload on nationals as the employers  consider  the former as  flippant  in performing their duties. In addition, these private companies have to pay hefty salaries to inexperienced University graduates who  demand  salaries above the more professionally  experienced  and  qualified  expatriates. Further to receiving hefty salaries, these nationals expect to receive  rapid  promotions despite their minimal  work  input  (Al-Ali 369). Such demands  place  company  managers at a disadvantageous  position  as they have to  balance  the company’s need for profitability against the fact that they cannot fire unproductive employees who are natio nals of UAE (Kerr 26). Providing employment to those poorly  qualified  and  inexperienced  is  detrimental  to the performance of companies and the economy as a whole. This is because this move impedes on business’ progress, which may lead to downsizing, compounding the problem that emiratization

Personal Finance Essay Personal finance refers to the principal that is applied to the monetary decisions of an individual or a family unit. It addresses issues such as the ways in which the individuals or families obtain finance, budget, save and spend the monetary resources of a company over a given period of time while at the same time taking in account the financial risks and the future life events that are related to the businesses activities. The profits or loss of a company are derived by determining the incomes of a company and the expenses that are incurred by a company. If the incomes are more than the expenses the company generates profit for the company. If the expenses of the company are more than the incomes then the company incurs losses in the financial period of a company. Assumptions The income of Donna Terrell is estimated to be $3333 per month since it is assumed that he earns a salary that is equally distributed throughout the year. The expenses of Donna Terrell are also assumed to be evenly distributed throughout the year except in the months where Donna Terrell specified that the expenses were incurred in those months. After Sherman acquisition of his new job on June 2003 and his decision to assist Donna Terrell was a positive move since after the month of June the Donna’s business started to earn profits since in the previous months the business was incurring losses, but after June 2003 the company started to generate profits for the company, thus was in a position to run it affairs effectively (http://64. 233. 169. 104/search? q=cache:DmCJZy7zP6kJ) It is also assumed that Sherman would earn a salary that would be $1500 per the month that followed the month of June up to December 2003. After Mr. Sherman decision to assist Mr. Donna in giving him financial assistance the business started to improve in its performance. The business incomes was greater than the expenses as from July to December of the Year 2003 and this contributed to the increased profits of the business as it continued with its operation until December 2003. The Church And Your Role Religion Essay

The Church And Your Role Religion Essay This essay will reflect on what arises from a Christian educational background with view to future Christian teaching praxis. It will focus on my appreciation of the topic at this point of time, canvass my views on the educational ministry of the church, and scrutinize my perceived role as a teacher within that framework. The educational ministry of the church can be defined as the manifestation of the combined facilitation of individual and communal development based on Christian life, and found to be expressed within a Christian faith tradition. It is a ministry based on Christs vision for humanity and the kingdom of God, and exhibits itself in genuine human development. It draws from its overall faith story and belief system with outcomes seen in whole people, relationships, communities, processes and structures. It is within this context that teachers in church schools and institutions are called to ministry.  [1]  Thomas Groome states. I propose that the biblical symbol that best expresses the overarching telos of being Christian and thus evokes the metapurpose of Christian religious education is the reign of God.  [2]   The role of the teacher in educational ministry is to further the nature of Christian education through informing, forming and transforming. Possibilities for the role of a teacher in educational ministry fall into six main categories.  [3]   These categories are as a bearer of the vision, as a story teller, as one who equips and empowers, as a gentle and persistent evoker, as a prophet and irritant provoker, and finally as a spiritual guide and companion.  [4]   In response to the bearer of the vision this role reminds and sustains the community through our lives of Christian action. The story teller relates to the power and purpose of Jesus parable teaching style. One who equips and empowers go hand in hand as they are closely related. The gently persistent evoker calls forth, as seen in the life of Tom Groome.  [5]   Moreover, the prophet and irritant provoker is often the content not the person with the parables designed to perpetrate this end. The spiritual guide and companion embody spiritual formation, mentoring, the selfhood of the teacher and an investment in the self. Accordingly, as stated by Dr. Deidre Palmer, the self speaks  [6]  for we teach what we are. Overall the role of the teacher in educational ministry is to express a dedication to ministry within the church. This is actioned through teaching the Word in scripture and tradition, and by witnessing as part of a community of faith, hope and love. Furthermore, it is achieved by worshipping through prayer and liturgy as much as by caring for human welfare.  [7]   What is your vision for Christian education in and through the life of the church? My vision for Christian education in and through the life of the church is defined by its attention to the life giving presence of God. This entails the fostering of a belief in Gods love and revelation. Christian education will endeavour to nurture vibrant, passionate, dynamic communities which embrace the on-going active presence of God in our world.  [8]   Christian education of the future will be characterized as being a ministry within the church. This necessitates schools and institutions being central to the missionary vision of the church. They will be in constant interaction with the local faith community and other educational bodies and services, as well as the local and universal church. The forthcoming Christian school and institution will be defined as a place of learning. Education will be shaped and nurtured by Christian philosophy, will possess a clear enlightening vision and be manifested in valued, goals and outcomes that are aligned. Christian education in and through the life of the church will be defined as a community of care, and place where individuals belong, are welcomed and nurtured. While reflecting respect and dignity for each person, the school will provide an inclusive and supportive environment in which each person can develop knowledge skills, attitudes and values. It may be characterized by an inclusive and outreaching culture. The Christian school and institution will embrace the inclusive model of learning by being an open, relation-centred community which respects all. It will be an environment where quality teaching and learning occurs, being shaped and directed by a philosophy based on Christian living. Overall, Christian education will be defined by its practice of continuous improvement through renewal. Learning institutions will renew themselves through action and reflection with informed educational priorities and processes. It will be a place of edification and erudition for the communitys young and a source for enrichment and development for societys seniors.  [9]   What are the strengths that you expect to bring to the role of teacher, and what are the areas that you most need to work on in developing your role as teacher in educational ministry? The relevant strengths that need to be brought to the role of teacher are a demonstrated commitment to a Place of Learning through educating the whole person, recognising developmental stages and individual differences, providing a relevant curriculum within a Christian context, nurturing life-long learning, fostering links to the broader community and reinforcing positive partnerships. The areas that need to be worked on in developing the role of the teacher in educational ministry are advanced by the undertaking of relevant professional development. This may be realized through supporting growth in the sacramental consciousness of the whole educational community and the promotion of academic excellence. In conclusion, the intention of this essay has been to reflect on what arises from ones Christian education background with view to the praxis of Christian teaching in the future.  [10]  Subsequently, it can be seen that Christian education commences with the individuals relationship with God and the manifestation of Jesus through the person to the community as a whole. Importantly, faith must be lived in order to throw light into the souls of those darkened by secular insecurities. Moreover, that the educational ministry of the church is the demonstration of the joint efforts of individual and communal growth based on Christian life, and articulated within a Christian faith practice. The role of the teacher in educational ministry is to foster the character of Christian education through informing, forming and transforming. As Jack Seymour notes in Mapping Christian Education, Christian education is a conversation for living, a seeking to use the resources of the faith and cultural traditions to move into an open future of justice and hope.  [11]Â
